The 6th and final panel of the “Historians on Democracy”-series on “Liberal Democracy and Capitalism”, took place on
June 17, 2025, 11-12 a.m./17-18 o’clock CET. This time,
we discussed the historical and current nexus between
“Liberal Democracy and Capitalism” – again with a round of expert inputs and in a subsequent Q & A of about 30 minutes. Our speakers are David Abraham (Miami), Rebecca Brueckmann (Carlton), Daniel Judt (Yale), Rahel Jaeggi (Berlin) and Samuel Moyn (Yale), all of whom study the complexities of liberalism and capitalism in different ways, and with different vanishing points, and also engage with the manifold critiques thereof up to the present.
